Barclay’s Premiership League

ASTON VILLA 1 – 2 LIVERPOOL

“Whether I play in the centre or on the right, I’ll always continue to work as hard as I can for the team. “

Aston Villa looked to have rescued a point when skipper Gareth Barry cancelled out Martin Laursen’s first-half own goal with an 86th-minute penalty, awarded for handball against Jamie Carragher, only for Gerrard to curl a 20-yard shot past the dive of Stuart Taylor barely 60 seconds later, after he had been brought down by Stiliyan Petrov.

<And then what happened?!>

Looks like this is going to be an inturesting season indeed.

*strokes beard*

Moon blood sucks stinky ass. Kill me now. Didn’t help that the Manure stank up my whole weekend. Everything hurts right now. More my ego than my womanly parts. I wish there was a pill for that.

I hang my head in shame for I have temporarily abandoned my Reds. I know, I know. You can never be a true supporter if you haven’t been there for them through the bad times and I fully intended to cheer them on but I sorta have personal problems of my own. Not that it can compare to that whore of a Mrs. Gerrard but still, it’s a problem that occupies most of my thoughts nowadays. The Dad was nice enough to remind me (while I was washing tons of feeding bottles) that the Liverpool-Fulham game was on. I almost didn’t want to watch, knowing that they might’ve been a little depressed coming back from the Champions League match against Galatasaray. But I was in for a lovely, lovely surprise.

Ah, where he should always be, blazing a trail for the Reds to follow. Dear Skipper, I love you so.

Jamie Carragher

Not only is there the promise of hundreds of millions of pounds of investment coming into the club but – far rarer than that – Liverpool supporters yesterday could celebrate the appearance of Jamie Carragher’s name on the scoresheet, his close-range conversion representing his first League goal in almost eight years and just his third in a shade over 300 League games. ‘His first goal of the century,’ beamed Rafa Benitez. – Football Guardian

Premiership Weekend Winner: As his last Premiership goal occurred in the previous century, against Southampton in January 1999 to be precise, Carragher now holds the Liverpool club record of the longest period between league goals. – Football365

Apparently there are people complaining. Who are these people?! Can they not appreciate a nice booty?! Gawd.

One more. This time, in full motion. ;)

LIVERPOOL 3 – 2 GALATASARAY (Champions League)

True to his word, Benitez rotated his squad again, with the significant return to a central midfield role for captain Steven Gerrard.

BOLTON 2 – 0 LIVERPOOL (English Premiership League)

Benitez: “I’m not a manager who likes to talk and talk, I like to work and work. We are starting from now with the six players we have, but I expect those who’ve left for international duty to think a lot about what happened on Saturday and be ready to show a reaction when they come back in ten days.”

Stevie, clearly NOT happy with the results

Alonso polls at China Grand Prix but Schumi takes first ..

Michael Schumacher’s rain-defying victory in Shanghai on Sunday left German newspapers struggling to find enough superlatives after the seven-times champion moved to the top of the standings for the first time in two years.

“He showed the world who’s the best, cuts Alonso to shreds and shuts (Renault boss) Flavio Briatore’s trap.”

.. but Kimi didn’t even get to finish the goddamned race.

“That was a shame as it was looking like we could achieved a win today,” said Raikkonen.

“I don’t know exactly what happened, but all of a sudden the throttle didn’t react correctly and the engine went into safety mode and selected neutral.

Everyone’s fucking up. Gawd.

Me thinks it’s brought on by Milenyo. I feel like I’ve just entered the Twilight Zone. Everything is upside down this week.

*shrug*

*sigh*

And again, we find a much-needed three points over the weekend which takes Liverpool from the bottom eight into the top half.

Bellamy may be going through some personal frustration as he waits to add to the solitary Champions League qualifying round strike against Maccabi Haifa that signalled an ideal start to his Anfield career but one he hasn’t been able to build on.

Against Spurs he had a simple tap-in after some mesmerising wing work from Steven Gerrard teed him up, but could only hit the post. While relieved to see Gonzalez follow up and make the miss irrelevant, it clearly wasn’t to Bellamy, whose reluctance to join his team-mates’ party by the corner flag was soon snapped out of him by Kuyt’s words of encouragement.

Teamwork at its best. After all, Bellamy’s blunder didn’t affect the most important issue of Liverpool getting the platform they needed to make victory against their unambitious visitors a formality from that point.

So we might not have started off in the right foot with 4 of our Premiership games but we sure smacked Newcastle’s already injured ass this morning. Thus, a little tribute to Rafa’s Red Army with a video (pardon me if it is old, but the music is superb and uplifting) and the final whistle report.

Of course the complimentary picture tribute to the men who made the match,

kuyt.jpgxiabs-02.jpg

Dirk Kuyt and Xiabi Alonso.

On any other day, my boyfriend boyfriend boyfriend, Steven Gerrard, would make it but I give credit to whom it is due. But I will leave you with a statement from Stevie for those who belive that Rafa has been rotating his players a bit too much. *cough* Lester *cough* O, ye that belongeth to the faith of the Manures .. or worse .. sneaky Chelski.

“Anyone who questions the tactics of Rafa Benitez must be crazy,” says Gerrard, utterly unimpressed by the misguided souls claiming to be speaking on his behalf when they question what role he’s playing.

“Rafa’s already achieved so much in two years and all the players and supporters have total belief in him.

“I know under Rafa I’ll continue to play in different positions, but that’s because he thinks I’m a good player who can do a number of jobs.

“Nowadays if a manager spends big money on a player, people expect immediate goals or man-of-the-match performances. It doesn’t always work like that. You need to settle and adjust. *cough* Abramovich-Schevchenko *cough*

“Liverpool tactics and systems aren’t the same as what these players are used to at other clubs.

“We’re playing very important games, but there’s no need to start panicking.

The entire article is over here.

Hehe. Just had to slip Stevie’s picture in.

Eventhough it’s just his back. ;)
